Halloween Craft
Stephanie is my crafty friend. I’m in awe of her, because she sometimes has her kids’ birthday parties at home, complete with crafts. Lately, she’s been into making tie-dye shirts with all of the neighborhood kids. And they are adorable. The latest are Halloween shirts and dresses. It doesn’t show well in the photos, but [...]

Acting like a bunch of teenagers
I just came back from a girls’ weekend in PA with seven wonderful college friends. This is a group that’s really bad at keeping in touch – we usually manage to exchange photo Christmas cards, sometimes with letters – but that’s about it. The last time they gathered was four years ago, a gathering I [...]

Munchkins on a Thursday Morning
Didn’t get one of Emma…she was still asleep. Typical.
I’m about to leave the munchkins to go on a trip to Pennsylvania with 9 of my college girlfriends. Always hard to leave them (and Tim, of course), but the anticipation of being able to sleep in for two days in a row is helping. Will post [...]

Hugging my kids tighter
I’m going to rip off somone els’e post today. I’ve always liked studying economics, and loved the book Freakonomics, which applied economics to current, real-world problems, looking at the way people respond to incentives, and the outcomes which ensue.
I regularly read the Freakonomics blog, and am a big fan of Steve Levitt, one of the [...]

I’m crabby today for a reason that I shouldn’t be crabby. We’re renovating David and Margaret’s bedroom – it was done with this flimsy material called “beaver board” instead of drywall. It’s been on the to-do list since we moved into the house 7 years ago, but the recent torrential rain/roof leak created more urgency [...]

OMG – What can I make for dinner?
One of my on-going struggles is around how to prepare healthy meals that my family will eat, when I get home at 6:00 or later. I have the best intentions, but there are so many days when I walk in the door and I just don’t feel like spending the next 45 minutes preparing dinner. [...]

David’s 5th birthday party – 9/12/08
After what seemed like (to David) months and months of waiting, his birthday party finally came. Chuk-e-cheese, video games, cake, what more do you need? Margaret had a fabulous time too. Even Emma went (her X-country meet having been cancelled because of the torrential rain.)
No time to write more today, folks. Too much work to [...]
