If you thought the thoughts were random before, you aint seen nothing yet:
1. I thought this Slate article about an emotion called “elevation” was interesting. The author uses it to explain the Obama phenomonon. Still, makes me think back to my days working in the deodorant category, making people sit in a hot room with pads under their arms and then weighing the pads to see how much they sweated (read the article…you’ll get the connection): http://bit.ly/op8j
2. The question of the day seems to be “Where’s Rahm Emanuel?” Well, last night he was at the Christmas at DePaul concert at St. Vincent DePaul church. Sitting close to….me. (What can I say? I don’t get out much, and I go all aflutter in the presence of quasi-famous people.)
3. I have recently started watching “Dexter”. (I’m very, very far behind, as I’m only halfway through the first season on video.) This is one of the best shows on TV, almost as good as Mad Men. Here’s a Slate.com article about it (I know, enough with the Slate.com today.) http://www.slate.com/id/2206519/
4. Very, very funny Ad Contrarian post today about the Dr. Pepper/GNR debaucle: http://adcontrarian.blogspot.com/2008/12/guns-n-roses-n-pepper.html
5. This is very clever, from the University of Maryland: http://holidaygreeting.umd.edu/2008/
6. Jay Leno? Every night? At 8:00? Really? (Good thing I have all those back episodes of Dexter to watch.)
7. Some days, you just need more cowbell
8. I think we’d be pushing the envelope if we got granular in our thinking by ring-fencing some budget allocation. Hey, it is what it is. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/howaboutthat/3532338/Thinking-outside-the-box-is-most-despised-business-jargon.html

Nicely done! My family always recommends more cowbell, when we need a little je ne sais quoi
